The Global Vice President and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain has revealed that the company is planning to launch new smartphones in India. In his tweet, he wrote that the new Xiaomi smartphones will be powered by the Snapdragon processor that was announced ‘just two weeks ago.’ We should mention that Qualcomm had launched three new Snapdragon chipsets recently – the Snapdragon 665, the Snapdragon 730 and the Snapdragon 730G. So, if we take Jain’s statement into consideration we can expect a Xiaomi device powered by any one of these three newly launched chipsets. Jain also highlighted through a tweet about his meeting with Qualcomm’s India President Rajen Vagadia and Vice President of Product Management Kedar Kondap. In his tweet, he wrote that a new Xiaomi smartphone with the latest Snapdragon 7xx “is coming to India very soon.” Although Jain didn’t reveal anything further like the name or any teaser of the device.

And out of all three new Snapdragon CPUs, only two seem to fit Jain’s tweet – the Snapdragon 730 and the Snapdragon 730G. It should also be noted that the South Korean technology giant Samsung earlier had launched its new Galaxy A80 smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 730G SoC. Samsung Galaxy A80 is a gaming-centric smartphone and it is yet to be launched in the Indian market. And if Xiaomi has decided to go the same route, it may be planning to compete with higher-end smartphones from Samsung Galaxy A series.

Any guesses? 😎 pic.twitter.com/TnrnTOr4PI — Manu Kumar Jain (@manukumarjain) April 26, 2019 If we talk about the devices which could see the light of the day this time, we can expect the launch of Mi A3. The A3 would most probably be a successor to last year’s Mi A2 which was a mid-range smartphone from Xiaomi. Also, the latest MIUI 10 code in January had hinted us that Google’s Android One could be the platform running in the Mi A3. Other than the Mi A3, the company might also launch the Mi A3 Lite which would be a cheaper and a watered-down version of the main smartphone.
