Before that, however, he made a video called ‘Congratulations’ in which, under the pretext of congratulating T-Series, he dissed the record label and India. And now, it seems like PewDiePie will have to handle being the No.2 channel on YouTube again since T-Series’ channel has surpassed it in terms of followers. And this time, the number of followers on T-Series’ channel is ahead by PewDiePie’s by 9,21,830 (at the time of writing). Within the next few hours, we expect T-Series’ followers to surpass PewDiePie’s by a million. PewDiePie belongs to a Swedish content creator called Felix Kjellberg, who has enjoyed being the No.1 on YouTube for the last six years. Since last year, Kjellberg’s channel started receiving some serious competition from T-Series’ YouTube channel. Since then, a battle between the two started and as a result of which, both the channels have crossed 90 million subscribers on YouTube already. They are soon expected to cross the 100 million subscriber mark too. It is worth pointing out though that during this time, Kjellberg has published two videos on his channel where he has dissed Indians. One, as we mentioned earlier, was the ‘Congratulations’ video, and the other is ‘Bitch Lasagna’. Another thing worth mentioning is that T-Series’ channel on YouTube had 30 million subscribers on the platform at the beginning of 2018. The primary reason why the channel could grow so much was because of the fall in the prices of 4G data coupled with the fact that YouTube made its way to feature phones. This led to scores of people in India, who earlier did not have access to YouTube, come on the platform. And this, in turn, led to an increase in the number of subscribers T-Series had on YouTube.

We still cannot say whether this battle is over, as we have all seen in the past how Kjellberg doesn’t take being the second biggest very well. While he has gone on record to say that he doesn’t care about T-Series and numbers, his channel always gets a big jump in subscribers each time the record label surpasses him. There have been times when other YouTubers have asked their subscribers to follow PewDiePew, and there have also been times when printers have been hacked to ask people to subscribe. Let’s see what he does this time.
