Till now YouTube, Android Messages, Twitter and Pocket were among the popular apps that supported the dark mode. And now Facebook Messenger is reportedly all set to join the bandwagon. According to Android Police, app-teardown expert Jane Manchun Wong posted on Twitter that the Android version of Facebook’s Messenger app is currently testing the dark mode. https://twitter.com/wongmjane/status/1048227405951692801/photo However, the test is being done on a limited number of users and that too in select countries. Although there is no word from either Facebook or Wong about which regions are included in the test, technology website TechRadar has mentioned that the social networking giant is conducting the test on users of its Messenger app in the United States and Australia. Coming back to what Wong said about the new dark mode on Facebook Messenger, it can be enabled by users via a dedicated toggle for the setting in the app’s ‘Me’ section. It is worth noticing that since the mode is currently being tested, it is not complete and changes are being made to it. And in-app ‘work in progress’ message is prompted by Facebook that says, “While we put the finishing touches on dark mode, it won’t appear everywhere in Messenger.” We should also mention that the dark mode has started rolling out on Messenger after some recent changes that have been in done in UI by the company. These include a reduction in the number of tabs and toning down of some clunky design elements. As of now, there is no word on when Facebook Messenger’s dark mode will be rolling to other regions, but we are surely looking forward to it considering that it helps saves battery.
