With the latest announcement, Messenger Kids is focused messaging service will now be available in more than 70 countries including India, Brazil, Japan among others.
Facebook is also teasing how the Messenger Kids app will work and how the parents can use the platform to allow their kids to learn remotely as their schools and educational institutions are closed due to coronavirus. Now the children will be able to manage their contact list under their parent’s supervision. Earlier the parents used to invite and approve every contact for their child with the fresh update using the parents can choose to allow their kids to also accept, reject, add or remove contacts, while maintaining the ability to override any new contact approvals from the Parent Dashboard. When the child approves or rejects friends invite in Messenger Kids their parents will be notified via Messenger, also they can keep a tab on their recent activities by going to Parent Dashboard. The Supervised Friending feature is being rolled out in the US and will gradually reach other markets.
The children will be able to connect through groups and the feature allows parents the choice to approve a similar adult to help connect their child with other kids through a group in Messenger Kids. The approved adults can only connect to kids until their parents have granted the adult the same approval. The teachers, coaches, parents and other leaders will be able to access this feature. Once connected through a group in Messenger Kids, kids will also be able to chat with each other individually. Kids can also leave groups they’re added to at any time.
