In the end it all comes down to the software optimization.

Rear camera(s)

Honor 20: 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with AI image stabilisation (AIS) + a 16MP secondary super-wide-angle lens  + a 2MP depth-assisting sensor + a 2MP macro lens. Honor 20 Pro: 48MP Sony IMX 586 primary sensor with 4-axis OIS + a 16MP super wide angle sensor + an 8MP telephoto sensor + a 2MP macro lens. Huawei P30 Pro: 40MP primary sensor with OIS and f/1.6 aperture + 20MP wide-angle sensor with OIS + 8MP sensor with periscope style zoom system + ToF sensor. The cameras have support for 5X optical zoom and 10X hybrid zoom and 50X digital zoom. All three smartphones come with a quad-camera setup. While the Huawei P30 Pro has a 40MP main camera, the other two devices pack a 48MP Sony camera as their main sensor. But then, Huawei’s smartphone has support for up to 50x zoom and that is a capability that isn’t found in any other handset.

Selfie camera

Honor 20: 32MP front camera Honor 20 Pro: 32MP front facing camera Huawei P30 Pro:  32MP sensor that has support for AI HDR+ In terms of the front facing camera, all three devices come with the same 32MP selfie camera, but the Huawei P30 Pro has support for AI HDR+ mode making it a superior camera.

RAM and storage

Honor 20: 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage Honor 20 Pro: up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage Huawei P30 Pro: 8GB of RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage In terms of RAM and storage, Huawei P30 pro and the Honor 20 Pro comes with the same setup with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. But the Honor 20 comes with less 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Support for microSD card

Honor 20: Yes Honor 20 Pro: Yes Huawei P30 Pro: Only nano-memory card. The Huawei is at a loss here even though it has support for additional storage because it only supports nano-memory cards which are rare and costly.

Battery

Honor 20: 3,750mAh battery Honor 20 Pro: 4,000mAh battery Huawei P30 Pro: 4,200mAh battery In terms of battery backup, Huawei P30 Pro is the clear winner because it packs a larger battery and it also has a great backup which easily lasts 1.5 days on heavy usage.

Operating system

Honor 20: Android 9 Pie skinned with Magic UI 2.1.0. Honor 20 Pro: Android 9 Pie skinned with Magic UI 2.1.0. Huawei P30 Pro:  Android 9.0 Pie skinned with EMUI 9.1. All three devices run Android 9 Pie which is the current version of the OS, but there is a chance they might not get the Android Q update in the future.

Starting Price

Honor 20: Rs 32,999 Honor 20 Pro: expected around Rs 46,500 Huawei P30 Pro: Rs 71,990 Huawei P30 Pro costs almost double of the two smartphones. However, it also packs a number of unique and premium features. Users who want a top-class camera smartphone with flagship performance and specifications but they don’t want to burn a hole in their pocket can go for either of the Honor 20 or the Honor 20 Pro depending on their requirements. But then if you do want a smartphone that is premium, you would also have to pay more for it.
